Practice makes perfect -
I dont recommend jumping into this with your cash in hand headed to the computer store for parts.
I say you find something like a Dell computer with a pentium 4 or dual core processor and try your hand at installing snow leopard.
You can start by grabbing a retail copy of snow leopard and a boot loader. But I strongly suggest you start with a distro like iAtkos S3 or Hazards snow leopard install.
This will at least get your feet wet & your hands dirty.
(not literally, unless you got to open up the pc and do some modifying)
Somewhere along the line you might have to check your bios and make sure settings are appropriate for OSX to boot for installation.
Example:
during your osx booting process you might run into error messages such as:
"Still waiting for root device"
"System Uptime in Nanoseconds = 233448533"
In some situations small changes in the bios can be made to help.
CONCLUSION:
Practice makes perfect
Thats why I say: get your feet wet first by getting a old dell computer as a test dummy for your hackintosh project. You can find them anywhere, someone just might give you one for free but if you have to buy one then don't spend no more than $50 on it.
Save the big dollars & visa card for your real project\investment.
